The Journey 旅程
For over two decades, I have focused on the fashion and high-end retail sector, accumulating extensive experience in brand management and corporate governance in both the Greater China and Australian markets. From leading large retail organizations to propelling brands into international markets, I have always believed that the true value of a brand lies not in short-term success, but in its ability to withstand the test of time, transcend cultural boundaries, and continuously create value. My career journey has consistently revolved around this belief.
Perspective
When businesses talk about internationalization, most people's first thought is the US or Europe. However, in my opinion, for most high-quality Chinese consumer brands, Australia is the truly worthwhile first market to choose. This isn't because it's large enough, but because it's small enough to help brands validate their true international competitiveness.
Australia boasts a mature and rational consumer market. Consumers are more focused on product quality, service experience, and brand value than on short-term promotions. This means that for a brand to succeed here, it must truly understand consumers, not just rely on price or traffic. More importantly, Australia offers a relatively controlled business environment. Companies can validate their products, pricing, retail operations, customer experience, and brand positioning, and continuously optimize their international business models without bearing the enormous risks associated with entering a mega-market.
Therefore, I have always believed that Australia is not just a sales market, but also an international validation platform for entering the mainstream Western market.
The reason for choosing Australia is not because it is large enough, but because it is small enough.
What I Believe
Now is the perfect time for successful Chinese companies to expand into overseas markets.
Building an overseas operation and management system requires gradual and systematic development; it is a complex task that takes time.
Going global is a corporate strategy and a process of corporate development where a brand transforms from a regional brand into a multinational corporation.
